The Laux Valve DN300 wafer butterfly valve with cartridge seat and rubber coated disc is a cost-effective, field-serviceable flow control solution for water, wastewater, HVAC, and general industrial applications. The replaceable cartridge seat design allows the rubber liner to be swapped out in the field without removing the valve body from the pipeline, reducing maintenance downtime and lifecycle cost.

The rubber coated disc provides enhanced corrosion resistance and improved sealing performance, with the elastomer coating forming an additional sealing layer against the cartridge seat. Suitable for bi-directional bubble-tight shut-off at Class 150 pressure ratings.

Cartridge Seat & Rubber Coated Disc – How It Works

Cartridge Seat Design

The cartridge seat is a one-piece elastomer liner that lines the full bore of the valve body. The liner has molded-in flange faces that extend beyond the body faces, creating integral sealing surfaces against the pipe flanges. The liner is retained in the body by:

  • Mechanical interlock with body grooves
  • Compression from the mating pipe flanges
  • Optional retaining pins in some designs

To replace the seat: depressurize the line, unbolt the pipe flanges, remove the old liner, insert the new liner, and re-bolt. The valve body stays in place.

Rubber Coated Disc

The ductile iron disc is fully encapsulated with a vulcanized rubber coating (matching the seat material). The rubber coating covers the entire disc surface including the edges, creating a homogeneous rubber-to-rubber sealing interface when the valve is closed. Benefits include:

  • Improved sealing – Rubber-to-rubber contact provides better conformity than rubber-to-metal, reducing leakage potential at low pressures
  • Reduced operating torque – Lower coefficient of friction between coated disc and seat
  • Corrosion protection – Full rubber encapsulation protects the disc from media corrosion
